LA BASE
“Social-realist sci-fi from the taxi center around a Paris airport that looks more like a run-down space base where an incredible cast of characters cross each other’s paths.” CPH:DOX
With the cameras of their smartphones, Parisian taxi drivers chronicle the Base Arrière Taxi, a gigantic isolated transit hub on the outskirts of Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport. Here, more and more aging drivers, immigrants from all corners of the world, spend long hours waiting to be dispatched to the terminals. Here they find refuge from fatigue and the fierce competition from the metropolis. Here, suspended in space and time, they foster community life to escape the decline of their trade and the fast-changing world.
